THE IDEALS OF GOLF MEMBERSHIP

The enjoyment of GOLF depends on a great deal on the co-operation, consideration and courtesy extended by fellow competitors.

What is true of the game also applies to CLUB MEMBERSHIP. The spirit and image of a GOLF CLUB is projected by the way fellow members show respect, courtesy and consideration to one another.

This courtesy and consideration should extend to the choice of dress generally, in the standard of conduct on the course and in the Clubhouse.

The standards of a Golf Club may be judged by the etiquette of its members.

It is always better to give a point than take one.

  • All alcohol consumed on the course must be purchased from the Club.

STROKE – Full Handicap
The score at each hole is entered on the score card, totalled and the player’s handicap deducted.

MATCH – Full handicap
In Match Play, the game is played by holes. A hole is won by the side which holes its ball in the fewer strokes. In Handicap Match Play the lowest handicap goes to zero (0) and the other side plays off the difference. A match is won by the side which is leading by more holes than they are left to play.

PAR/BOGEY – Full Handicap
The score is recorded on the card the same way as stroke play, handicaps are deducted for each hole and the result is indicated as plus(+), minus (-) or square (?) with par.

STABLEFORD – Full Handicap
The score is recorded on the card the same way as stroke play, handicaps are deducted for each hole and points are awarded as follows: 1 for bogey; 2 for par; 3 for birdie; 4 for eagle.

FOUR BALL BEST BALL – Full Handicap
Two players play as partners and the best score is recorded as a result for each hole.

FOURSOMES – Half Handicap
Foursomes may be played under either Stroke or Match Play rules and conditions.

Two players play as partners and use one ball. Players take alternative strokes until the ball is holed. Partners are to alternate teeing order.

NOTE: if either incurs a penalty stroke it does not alter the rotation of play.

MIXED FOURSOMES – Half Handicaps
Men and ladies mix as foursomes and use their respective tees. Men will tee off from the first tee.

CANADIAN FOURSOMES – 3/8 Handicaps
Both players hit off the tee and continue alternative shots with the ball they nominate.

AMERICAN FOURSOMES – 3/8 Handicaps
Both players hit off the tee then cross to their partner’s ball and hit a second shot, and continue alternating shots with the ball they nominate.

AMBROSE – Group of players tee off, and then choose a ball. The other players pick up their balls and play their next shot as near as possible to the chosen ball, proceed until ball is holed.
Ambrose Handicaps – two players’ quarter of combined handicap; three players one-sixth of combined handicap; four players one-eighth of combined handicap

The Course

Holes: 9
Metres: 5836m
Par: 70

The fantastic 9 hole, 18 tee, links style seaside course is laid out over 5836m, that is both rewarding and challenging to golfers of all levels. There is reward in just walking around this beautiful course, a green oasis in an at-times dry and arid area. Combined with this the challenges that come with Mother Nature and the strong winds she provides having the fairways running parallel with the coastline. It makes it both picturesque and an ever-changing challenge.
